Mujahideen Muhammad

Mujahideen graduated from Mercy University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and earned a master’s degree in Professional Studies in Ministry and Leadership from Union Theological Seminary in 2024. He is currently a student in the Executive Master’s Program of Public Administration at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

After returning to society in 2024 following 24 and a half years of incarceration, Mujahideen joined Columbia University’s Center for Justice as a research assistant. He is a staunch advocate for the passage of the Second Look Act in New York, co-authoring a report on the legislation for the Center for Justice and raising public awareness through multiple platforms, including delivering a speech at Chief Judge Rowan Wilson’s 2025 State of the Judiciary address at the New York Court of Appeals in Albany.

As the leader and co-founder of The Pillars of Promise, Mujahideen is committed to changing the narrative about incarcerated people and expanding pathways to release, dignity, and long-term prosperity for those impacted by the prison system.
